I have a pasion for Mountain Dew. I love this beverage. I believe it is better than the other soda beverages out there. One thing in particular that I like that the company has done is that they have made many different flavors of Mountain Dew. Other beverages like Coca Cola, Pepsi, and Dr. Pepper have different spins on the same drink, for example, Diet Coke and Coke Zero, but even the variations taste the similar. Mountain Dew has flavors that are not similar to the original Mountain Dew. This allows Mountain Dew to reach more people. Even though I am not a fan of all the different flavors there is a flavor for everyone.
My agenda is to inform more people about how awesome Mountain Dew is and the different flavors that are available. I know that not everyone enjoys the original Mountain Dew like I do but that does not mean that they will not enjoy a different flavor. Helping people learn about the different flavors of Mountain Dew will help Mountain Dew's market grow.
In class it was suggested that a good way to get this message across is to make a web game or mobile game similar to Mario Kart. As I thought about this idea I realized that it is a good one. Since there are many different flavors of Mountain Dew I would love to use them for the power ups. For example if I pick up the Livewire flavor maybe it gives me a speed boost or I can shoot fireballs. If I pick up Baja Blast I can lay down ice on the track that the other players slip on. If I pick up White Out it whites out the other players screens for a few seconds. There are many possibilities.
Another possibility that I thought of is to make a platformer web or mobile game. Again I would use the different flavors of Mountain Dew for power ups or to help traverse the world. With Livewire I could shoot fireballs at enemies, with Mountain Dew Xtreme I could run faster, etc.
Both of these ideas work great in helping people learn the different flavors of Mountain Dew and if done well can show people that Mountain Dew is cool. Both styles of games, platformer and racing, are proven to be a great canvas to make one of these games on. Most importantly these games would be fun thus inviting people to play again and again.

ReplyDeleteLike told you in class, Mountain Dew is a good subject for a product. I like the idea of a Mario Kart-type racer for Dew. It is also nice that it is a game that many are familiar with and it is a good fit for the product. Two pieces of feedback on this:
1) Mountain Dew is commercials in the past have been about the extreme and that is what these race courses should be.
2) When choosing a racing kart, I would have the kart's special ability being the above mentioned boost, or white-out, or ice and make their kart the colors of the can...logo on the back, of course. There are other pick-ups that they can run over and get abilities, but when they run over the "special" icon, it gives them their karts natural ability.
One last thing that I would like for you to do...come up with 3-4 other games that would be fun and appropriate for Mountain Dew. I like Mountain Dew Kart, I just want to make sure that there is not something out there that would work better.
